Because of her, I do. Part one

We live in a time where we as women don’t uplift one another nearly enough. We live in a time where many have the belief that shining a light on someone else, somehow diminishes their own light. In honor of Women’s History Month, I’m going to be spotlighting some of the most influential women in my life.

To kick it off, I want to introduce Jasmine. She is one of my nearest and dearest friends. She is strength, grace, and faith personified. Funny story, we met during our freshman year of high school. Jasmine was my best friend she just didn’t know it at the time. Come to find out, in her mind I was her best friend yet, I didn’t know it. So here we are the best of friends yet oblivious. If I knew then, what I know now, I would’ve proudly professed our “best friendness” from the beginning.

I’ve watched Jasmine rise through things that would have broken people. I’ve watched her exceed expectations time after time. She’s been my rock, my diary, my dinner partner, & after all these years my best friend.

I asked Jasmine if someone read “The book of Jasmine” what would you want them to really take from it. She told me that she would want people to remember that her faith is an imperative part of her success both personally and professionally. My favorite part of her response though, was when she said she is 100% authentically herself. I could not agree more with that. She has fallen so in love with who she is that she is desensitized to what others thinks she should be. We could all learn a lesson from her.

She has always been more than happy to either be my biggest cheerleader or my kick in the butt. Lol whatever is needed in that moment. I am so proud to say that she is my forever friend.

Stay tuned for the next amazing woman 🙂
